Have you thought about getting a spray tan, but never quite gotten around to trying one? It’s natural to feel hesitant about any procedure that’s new to you, but I’m here to alleviate any concerns you may have!
Spray tan vs real tan: It goes without saying, a “natural” tan caused by the sun is not the way to go. Sunburn not only ages your skin and creates that leathery, dry look when you’re older, it can result in skin cancers later in life. A safe spray tan is a much better option for your health, and will absolutely look better, too – think smooth, even golden glow all over – no bikini tan lines. Worried about looking orange? Talk through the shade you want with your therapist.
It’s a simple process: If you’re wondering what the actual process is like, it’s simple and painless. You will be asked to undress (you can wear a paper g-string) and wrap your hair in a net, before stepping into the tanning tent. The therapist will spray you with a fine, cold mist, working their way all over the body until you’re tanned from head to toe. You will then dress in loose clothing, to avoid tanning marks. Easy!
Choose a safe salon: What you put on your skin matters, and you should choose a salon that uses products which are safe for your body – and the environment. Bronze Goddess is my go-to tanning salon because their spray tans are natural, vegan and cruelty-free and don’t contain any parabens or nasty ingredients. Not to mention, they’re fast, effective and I walk out feeling glamourous every time!
Remember, they’re professionals: Worried about stripping down to your birthday suit? Don’t be. Just like getting a Brazilian wax, spray tan therapists are experienced and professional. They’ve seen it all, and you shouldn’t feel embarrassed or awkward. A good therapist will make you feel comfortable, supported and relaxed. Plus you can wear deposable underwear if you wish.
If you’re based in Christchurch, swing by Bronze Goddess for your next tan. They even have a special Angela Stone special .
