It can be that much harder to stay motivated in winter. While staying healthy during winter may not seem like a priority, it is so important to look after yourself from the inside out.
You either love it or you hate it, but regardless of your feelings, Winter is here and making her presence felt! It’s so easy to get sick and loose your routine during these colder months, so today I wanted to give you my top tips for staying motivated and healthy till Spring arrives with open arms!
Oatmeal is one of those feel good starts to the day, giving your body a hug from the inside out! It is so good for you and filling as well. As the saying goes, “breakfast is the most important meal of the day”. You can add a variation of toppings to make it even better as well; honey, banana, berries, brown sugar… The choice is yours!
Vegetables like kumara, carrots, parsnips and broccoli are great winter vegetables that will keep you full and stop you snacking on junk food. Remember that you need your daily intake of fruit and vegetables, don’t slack off just because it’s colder!
If there’s any time your likely to get sick, it’s winter! So now is the time to boost your immune system with some gold old vitamin C. You can either do this through eating citrus fruits, or those yummy chewy vitamins. Better yet, why not take the XtendLife Total Balance ? It’s the perfect mix of essential vitamins that we all need daily and is made in NZ.
Exercising in Summer is a bit more enjoyable with the beautiful sun and warm air, so it’s easy to see why a lot of us put on a few extra kilos in the cooler months. There’s comfort food and less outdoor activities. Why not join a gym? Make it a goal to go there at least 3 times a week. Gyms are really starting to be more affordable and many offer a free personal trainer for a few sessions so you can work out a routine and learn how to use all the equipment.
Soup is such a feel good meal and warms you up the instance you take the first mouthful. My top tip is to avoid cream based soups as they are not as good for the waist line. Opt for a vegetable broth soup with lots of winter vegetables!
