The end of the week held a treat for the women of Auckland, with Magazine Publishers’ annual What Women Want luncheon. The media company, who produce Auckland Eye , The Beauty Book and Auckland’s Best Dining , hosted a three-hour event at the Hilton which combined guest speakers and musical entertainment with bubbles, lunch and a mini fashion and beauty expo. As guests arrived, the action happened at the entrance to the ballroom where several fashion and beauty brands held stands. On the beauty front, Regional Health, Danné Mantague-King , Black Orchid (the beauty division of Medtel), Snowberry and Benefit all sold their wares and offered advice and information. After guests finished shopping, it was time for the luncheon to begin.

Each round banquet table was labelled with a black and white portrait of a beauty icon, such as Marilyn Monroe or Audrey Hepburn, and was filled with flowers and a Champagne bucket. Magazine Publisher’s Vanessa Green welcomed guests and MC Leah Panapa, then singer Petra Rijnbeek performed while the entrée was served. The event also included speakers Angela Stone (on fashion), plus cosmetic medicine specialist Dr Teresa Cattin. In between the three-course meal, there was also entertainment from Brazilian dancers and a fashion parade. To round off the afternoon of treats, each guest took home a goodie bag stuffed with beauty samples and a copy of The Beauty Book .
