Hi Ange,

I came to you to train to become a fashion stylist. I’ve always been a fashion savvy, makeup and dress loving girlie girl and wanted to do something fun on the side of my “real” job as a career banker. I got so much more than I could hope for. I was deeply nervous and self conscious (mostly of what I was wearing) about meeting this beautiful women I had seen on tv. Almost immediately we clicked, I was lucky enough to have you all to myself on your course and we both agreed it had happened for a reason. I have been through a really hard year relocating to Christchurch after 8 years in Australia, no family down south and my relationship broke down shortly after I arrived. I was in a negative space, not enjoying my job, blaming others for my shortfalls and not taking very good care of myself inside or out. I had picked myself up enough to get moving on my business plan and sought your help to get there. Your positivity not only lifted me, it washed over me. Everything we discussed hit home, you knew me so quickly and became a friend and a mentor. I cannot thank you enough! I am happy every day (maybe not the whole day but most of it) because I choose to be. I see the good in others like you asked me to and I see the bright side always. This has had a huge impact on my life. I am more giving, people respond to me positively that didn’t before, I have a better relationship with my boss and colleagues and I have others telling me I am an inspiration. I am being a friend in order to have friends and my family relationships are 10x better too! People ask me what’s happened to me, who is this person?! I’m still me but I have you to thank for being there for me, teaching me about style through fashion and beauty and the true style that comes from within. You’ve helped me realise being a survivor of hard times gives us the power to help others and I want to do that too. You’re an absolute inspiration Angie. Rochelle Carly XXX

When I attended Angela Stone’s Fashion Styling Course in January I never dreamt that I would be so inspired and that it would change my life. The course covered all of the areas I wanted to learn from colours, to body shape, wardrobe planning, personnel shopping and how to start up my own styling business. The course was clear, concise and compelling, and exceeded all of my expectations. Angela’s warm and friendly personality was infectious and we connected instantly. Q. What were your reasons for signing up to the course?

I was working for 6 years in the fashion section of a department store and when I left that position, I left with the intention of starting my own business.

My expectations were that I would feel fully competent to start my own business as a stylist after completing the course. I was not disappointed.

From Training to Careermel

How the Angela Stone Fashion Stylist course has helped Mel Cheng realise her dream job!

Q. What were your reasons for signing up to the Angela Stone Fashion Styling course?

I am a Mum of two young boys and I have always had a flair for fashion and dressed my friends for events over the years. I did not want to go back to my Marketing/Customer Operations career at Vodafone. I wanted to do something I was passionate about and build my own business to be able to work from home and still be involved with my kids. I talked to my friends and had the idea of starting a business to help Mums get ready to go back to work by giving them styling tips. I wanted to help them look good and feel confident with their bodies going back into the workforce. I felt if I had a bit of training it would look better for my clients knowing I had been trained in colours, body shape etc. I searched online for styling courses and found Angela Stone!

Q. From reading about the course online, what were your expectations before attending Angela Stone?

I would get training on how to read clients colours and determine different body shapes which was a great start for my business and gaining trust with clients.

Q. What was your favourite part of the course?

My favourite part was understanding each persons body shape and what styles looked best on each person, including colours, shapes of clothes, and patterns. What do you think were the most valuable aspects you took away from the course? It would definitely have to be learning how to read a persons colours and gaining knowledge on how to go in and work a individuals wardrobe.

Q. What are you doing now?

I have a small business called Blossom – refine and style, where I do colours, wardrobe assessments and personal shopping. I am also a stylist at the Warehouse in the studio. I dress all of the models (adults and kids) and direct them in our photo shoots for campaigns and mailers. I also do PR events for the Warehouse styling.

Q. Did the course exceed your expectations?

I really enjoyed it and it gave me more confidence in working with clients. I gained a lot of knowledge in how to start my business and how to have a successful career in personal styling.

Q. Would you recommend this course to others?

I think this course is a great idea for anyone young and old wanting to get training in understanding a persons colours, body shape, ideas on starting a business and confidence building. You do need to have a flare for fashion and be a people person. You also need to be able to communicate well with a great understanding of the fashion trends. Styling is a very rewarding job. I am on top of the world when I leave a clients home and I know they now feel great about themselves and understand how to dress well with confidence!
