What To Do With The Left Over Sugar!

Angela Stone • Apr 19, 2015

Looking and feeling good is important for our confidence and self-esteem.

Now that you are well into  My Daily Sugar Allowance , I thought you might like some ideas on what to do with the left over sugar that is lurking in your pantry.  Your kitchen contains some of Mother Nature’s best products!

I have put together some of my favorite DIY skin care products, these are all-natural and all deliver benefits to the skin without added chemicals that harm more than they help. What’s great about the products on this list is that they’re inexpensive and easy to incorporate into your skincare routine.

So, here are my favorite DIY products that you should be using on a regular basis to help improve your skin.

1. Smooth Skin With This Brown Sugar Vanilla Scrub

8c3d2d4a25c837424ce755d87b5814cdBrown sugar and vanilla are a winning combination.   A sugar scrub improves the skin appearance and texture by exfoliating it and moisturizing it. Sugar produces several compounds such as glycolic acid, which is an alpha hydroxy acid that works hard to loosen dirt and dead skin cells and easily removes them from the skin.

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
3 tbsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup almond oil

Mix all ingredients together.  Find a pretty jar to put the scrub in.  Indulge your body with this scrub in the shower. Rub a small amount of sugar scrub gently on your body and wash off with cold water. Viola! Enjoy soft, clean and glowing skin all day long.

2.  Banish streaks from self-tanner.6b191d2ea8c2bc0c219836bb7181c2be

Went a little overboard with the self-tanner? No problem! Streaks can be banished before your weekend plans with this all-natural body scrub.

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup olive oil
Juice of 1 lemon
1 tbsp honey

Mix all ingredients together and you are good to go! Store in a jar.  Do not use this on your face, and no not be afraid so scrub hard!

3.  Coconut Sugar Lip exfoliate.

2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
2 tablespoons coconut sugar
1 tablespoon honey

Simply combine in a small mixing bowl all the ingredients until mixed. The scrub will be thick and grainy- just what you’re after.  Store in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks.

4.  Sugar Hand and Foot Exfoliatord2414b84c66ca0378195dbbd9b1ace92

Coconut oil is subtly fragrant and slightly delicious. This one is a super moisturizing scrub perfect after a day in the garden, excellent scrub for hardworking hands, use this twice weekly.

1/2 cup coconut oil
½ cup castor sugar
1 teaspoon salt.

Mix ingredients together.  Store in a plastic or glass container.  Rub on, massage, and rinse.

May Newsletter 2023 Hi friends! Is your winter wardrobe in check? One thing people often forget to pay attention to is accessories, but this is such a fun way of dressing for the colder weather. These are the Winter Accessory Trends you should be aware of: Big scarves are in – and I mean big! Wrap it around your neck a bunch of times, or wear it like a shawl for a chic look. You’ll be cosier than ever! If you already have an oversized handbag, you’re in luck – this trend will be everywhere this winter. I love a coloured bag for a statement, and since red is hot right now, a large red bag is going to look extra chic. Own a pair of heeled boots? Time to bring those babies out. This season a stiletto heel is favoured over a chunky heel, but both are strong options and will keep your feet cozy. Love fashion and want to learn more? Join me on my next Fashion Stylist Course .
