Fashion in the Field at Riccarton Park

NZ Cup and Show Week 2013

Fashion Co-ordinator – Angela Stone

New Zealand Cup and Show Week is one of our country’s most exciting and renowned fashion extravaganzas. As a chance to don the most elegant and extravagant attire, New Zealand Cup and Show Week is an event not to be missed. The Fashion in the Field – celebrates two new fashion sponsor’s this season – Park Avenue Fashion’s and Sergios Menswear.

New Zealand Cup and Show Week is the pinnacle of the party season, making it the perfect starter to a season full of celebrations. The warmer months provide us with the perfect opportunity to have fun socializing and truly dress to impress.

To look your best this coming Cup Week, and for the rest of your summer season, you should feel free to take cue from these crucial fashion tips.

  • Own a dress for every occasion.

Dresses are a girl’s best friend during the party season. A few key dresses, including the cocktail dress, the formal dress, and the party dress, should be essentials in every woman’s wardrobe. These will keep you covered, ensuring that you are always prepared for any last minute celebrations.

  • Accentuate your favorite features and play down all of the others.

For example, if you are wearing a low cut top, you should ensure that your hemline is not too short. If you choose to wear a bright lipstick, keep your eye makeup to a minimum. This will allow you to highlight your most desirable features while not appearing over the top.

  • Dress for the occasion.

New Zealand Cup and Show Week requires a certain standard of attire, as do parties, cocktail evenings, and family celebrations. Consider your company, the environment, and the customs of the occasion and dress accordingly. If in doubt, it is always better to overdress than underdress.

  • Remain sensible

It is easy to find a stunning pair of sky-high heels; the trick is finding a pair that is wearable too. If the event is outdoors, consider a wider heel or wedges. In the same vein, while a white gown may look amazing on in store, consider its appropriateness, its wear-ability, and whether you will feel comfortable enough wearing it out.

  • Accessorize appropriately.

No party outfit is complete without matching accessories. When purchasing your perfect party dress, ensure you have shoes, jewelry, and a purse to match. Consider what you already have in your wardrobe that will complement it, or purchase new items entirely, as mismatched accessories can ruin even the finest frock.
This year’s New Zealand Cup and Show Week will once again highlight our many amazing fashion talents and tastes. This spectacular event will be packed full of fashion shows and competitions making it a must-attend event for any and all fashionistas looking to dress to impress and have some fun!

May Newsletter 2023 Hi friends! Is your winter wardrobe in check? One thing people often forget to pay attention to is accessories, but this is such a fun way of dressing for the colder weather. These are the Winter Accessory Trends you should be aware of: Big scarves are in – and I mean big! Wrap it around your neck a bunch of times, or wear it like a shawl for a chic look. You’ll be cosier than ever! If you already have an oversized handbag, you’re in luck – this trend will be everywhere this winter. I love a coloured bag for a statement, and since red is hot right now, a large red bag is going to look extra chic. Own a pair of heeled boots? Time to bring those babies out. This season a stiletto heel is favoured over a chunky heel, but both are strong options and will keep your feet cozy. Love fashion and want to learn more? Join me on my next Fashion Stylist Course . It’s a fun, 2-day event with like-minded women that will renew your confidence in yourself and teach you the fashion fundamentals. Secure your spot here . The Women’s Lifestyle Expo Palmerston North is on 13–14 May, and I’ll be there with a stall selling fabulous fashion pieces for great prices. Stop by for a browse and a quick style! Ange xoxo
